La Fondation Saku Koivu est honorée
The first edition of the “The Fast and the Generous” gala, organized by the Saku Koivu Foundation for the Montreal General Hospital was a great success as more than $15,000 were raised. The money will benefit the Cancer and Trauma Services at the hospital.
The event took place on May 29th at the Saputo Family’s Member-Only Luxury Car Club – Automobiles Etcetera located on Côte-de-Liesse Road. The guests were welcomed on a red carpet and greeted with champagne. Amongst them were Montreal Canadiens head coach Guy Carbonneau and comedian Joey Elias.

A large part of the raised money was collected during a live auction where two rounds of golf at Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf course were up for grabs. The first one with Saku Koivu sold for $1900 and the other with Guy Carbonneau sold for $2000.

Organized by Editor in Chief of Yu Magazine Maya Sardouk, the night was presented by Andy Nulman, co-founder and CEO of the world-renowned Just For Laughs Festival, and hosted by CTV fashion reporter Orla Johannes.

Dinner service was provided by Milos, Ferreira Café and Bice & Cavalli. The three restaurants offered a great variety of fine dishes for all tastes.
The Saku Koivu Foundation
Since 2005, The Saku Koivu Foundation has raised more than $2.5 million to acquire new medical equipment for cancer research while contributing to a number of other initiatives that assist cancer outreach programs and educational prevention efforts.
