Isn't it strange that the Habs' big free agent signing is bigger than the Als' new middle linebacker? Whether you lust most for a Stanley Cup and a Grey Cup in the same season, you have to be impressed with Georges "The Bash" Laraque and the way lightweight Dwayne Taylor has become the Monster in the Middle of the Als defense.
MLBs are supposed to spit fire when they're not chewing up and spitting out opposition runningbacks and quarterbacks, but Taylor is a lightweight at the position. And after missing all last season, was flying around with reckless abandon while blotting out any fears his arm might fall off.
Laraque is the biggest physical specimen since his sometimes-sparring partner Raitis Ivanans and would fit in easily with the Alouettes' d-lineman.
No, I'm not surprised the Sundin thing didn't work out. Did you REALLY want to cheer for a Loyal Leaf?
Gary Greenstin, Grabovski's agent, insists they didn't initiate trade talks that sent the sometimes brooding Belarussian to Toronto. If Mr. Gainey's hand was forced, he still managed a minor coup---getting a big D prospect who's heading to Michigan (Greg Pateryn follows in Mike Koma-saurus' skates) and a 2nd Round pick in 2010. In Bob we Trust to give Habs fans another reason to hope the Leafs totally suck for at least 2 more years!
The Cahoon family is settling back into West Island life, so Ben can polish his Hall of Fame credentials for the rest of the summer. Ben is a quiet mentor for Laval-native Danny Desriveaux. Velcro Hands in the run-up to passing Peter Dalla Riva for the alltime Als' TD pass-catching record has been entirely overlooked for another astounding achievement...he's already got the record for most career catches in Grey Cup games by ANY CFL receiver. If there's a Cup on the line and you've got just one play....throw to Ben!!!
Cahoon may be the best receiver the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ever let go from a tryout camp without even dressing for a pre-season game. Dalla Riva made more diving catches than any Alouette I've ever seen, though. He also has the uncanny knack to bring golf balls out of the woods by the dozen! I'm not sure that's a good for your golf game, unless you're in Peter's foursome and your golf bag is running low!
